Model Aircraft Information
On this page, you will find information about almost every aspect of Aeromodelling.

Starting Out:
If you are new to the sport of model aircraft piloting, then I can give you some great help. For your first model, I recommend a smaller plane, for an engine size 10cui - 20cui. These planes are light, responsive and easy to fly Being light means they are a lot stronger, and therefore if you crash them, you will do less damage.
For your first motor, I would recommend an OS. OS have been around for years, and are very reliable. If you are starting out, I would suggest that you get a motor in the FP series. Just for a general price idea, dont pay anything more than for a 40 FP.

This would be an Ideal model to start out with, it's small, 10 powered, light and can fly pretty slowly.

Sport Models:
About 6 months ago, the P&DARCS made several X-PERT kits, and sold them to members of the club for AU. The X-Pert is the ideal sport model: Symmetrical wing, Low-Wing, Very Very Very responsive, and fully Aerobatic. The X-Pert is not much harder to fly that an advanced trainer, but a lot more fun. They are the Ideal model for someone past a trainer and who wants to practise their aerobatics. Even better than an X-Pert is a fun fly type model like my Great Planes Dazzler. It does better Aerobatics, better performance and almost better everything. You can see pictures on the Model Aircraft Photo Page. |
Brian Gibaud and his Spitfire. Built from Airborne plans with a Thunder Tiger 91 4-Stroke and Electric Retracts. Flies really well.

Scale:
Scale flying is reserved for the best of pilots. Scale models are models that are smaller versions of their full-sized counterparts. They usually have a high wing-loading and some nasty flying characteristics, but looking so realistic in the air makes up for this. Scale models are usually the most expensive models, ranging from AU to AU$ 2000. |
